In this case, after examining the crankshaft and assessing the damage of the crankpin, the crankpin having a standard diameter of 310 mm was reduced to 308 mm. The radius fillet of the Wartsila crankshaft was also badly damaged due to the accident and was successfully repaired on board the vessel by our technicians.
The engine was commissioned in the presence of our technicians as the undersized bearing was available.
